If youre thinking at shopping at shaws in Bangor think again. This is the third or fourth time I’ve had an issue with them and without a car and this being the closest grocery store this sucks but I will not shop here again. I’m consistently having issues with products from them, their staff are unbelievably rude and the store is disgusting. These were purchased a few HOURS ago. This is days old. So there goes my dinner plan. Called customer service and the lady gave the deepest sigh I’ve ever heard. Management mind you. Like I was the biggest inconvenience of her day. Won’t waste my time or money here again this is gross. 🤮

The store always smells like rancid meat, the prices are crazy inflated compared to Hannaford and Walmart(they are akin to Target). And I’m so tired of the parking lot being used as event parking, pushing customers further and further back in the parking lot away from the store. If you want to make extra money off of event parking, keep the designated customer parking close to the store so we don’t have to fight for the leftover spots and walk a ridiculous amount just to get inside. Hannaford is worth the extra drive time. Shaws will always be rotting at the bottom end of grocery shopping chains.

For grocery store this is one of my favorite places to go. To be honest I don't go here often but it's only because it is out of my normal route of travel so the convenience isn't there for more but it is in a very convenient location for most people. This store has more option than most and a lot of really good deals. They also have an excellent choice have pre-made hot meals ready to go. There is plenty of parking, the place is very organized and just a great plane in general to get groceries. They also have some sort of membership plan that you can sign up for for free to get extra discounts.

Refused to sell me salt water without ID. 32 year old man, waiting on replacement ID, being asked to show it in order to buy... Salt water. A saline nasal spray. Sodium chloride. H20. Can't even make this up. Lady working at the self service at 11am, wouldn't call for management to double check the actual law vs policy and denied service to me with a grin on her face. Sodium chloride is not a controlled substance and you can't make drugs with it. It is not against the law to sell saline spray to people under the age of 18 in Maine, I have photos of my old ID while it is being replaced. Walmart just sold it to me, so did target. What the hell Shaw's? Also no manager intervention at all? Like really? You all watched an American deny salt water to an immigrant who has to go through a bit of a longer hurdle for ID replacement (both IDs stolen by an American, because I'm legally advised to keep it all on me at all times), than an American when it comes to replacing stolen IDs. I wasn't trying to buy alcohol, I respect the law. I was just trying to buy salt water so my daughter at home can breathe. Absolutely insane policy choice. I'm gonna try buying again, once, and if it happens again

The Shaws in Dover Foxcroft is excellent. They carry a nice selection of vegetarian food. The fresh fruits and vegetable department is great also.
